Starting from yesterday the position of the head of the board of Public Television is vacant. The former head of the board, Alexan Harutyunyan was elected on January 8, 2003, however his position submission had been calculated since January 19, 2001. For six years Tigran Naghdalyan was elected head of the board. According to the law on “Television and Radio” in the event of a vacancy the director of the board informs about this the President of Armenia, who within one week undertakes a competition. Minimum 10 days are given for the nomination of candidates. The information about the candidates is publicized through media. Based on the competition the resident appoints the winner president of the board.
