The most important thing is to be dryness

Usually in pre-election periods psychologists conduct surveys. They usually conduct surveys by phone by calling women and asking their opinion. By asking women they try to figure out the participation level of citizens in elections. Nevertheless, instead of asking such questions to women psychologists can just analyze the participation level in local government elections. For instance, during the last elections for Arabkir community local government head’s position the citizen participation level was 16%. We can’t say that the citizen participation may be more active during the parliamentary elections. The mentioned 16% voter participation level clearly and correctly describes how active citizens are generally. This passiveness can’t be explained by hopelessness, but by conformism. Psychologist Karine Nalchadjyan says that all the nations have the attribute of conformism, however she believes that their behavior depends on the development phase of that conformism they are in: “Most part of our society lives in an environment of adequate mutual relationship (I am giving it to you so that you give it to me).

It is said that the moral character of a person does not depend on education and one can be uneducated but have good moral character. Indeed, scientists say that the more people are educated the higher moral character they have. Currently our society lives in such phase of development that it may even follow Gagik Tsarukyan without any potato or other agricultural products”. Answering to a question whether she does not think that the main bearers of the highest moral values, the intelligentsia, have lost their reputation in Armenia Mrs. Karine Nalchadjyan said, “I think that the word “reputation” has lost its own reputation. We already don’t use that word often and don’t say that someone has a good reputation since the others may think something else. There are people that really have good reputation and do their best for this country; however, people don’t understand them well. Their language is not clear for people, they don’t use the terms that the other ones speak thus the people are not educated enough to understand them in a duly manner. Good ideas are not acceptable for people; their understanding has become very narrow”. Often political powers say that the opposition is too weak and can’t be empowered, which creates an environment of mistrust among the public to them and thus makes them passive.

Notwithstanding, maybe the reason is the fact that the society is not ready yet to struggle for its goals and tries to chose the most optimal version of development. Karine Nalchadjyan thinks that the rumors that people may go out to streets to struggle if the elections are violated again are baseless: “When can they take people out to streets? They can do it when there are kind and malicious intents. These understandings are not political category; however they are psychological and social category. In our inner political field these two understandings are not separated from each other. It seems that the oppositional and governmental powers are separated. As for the announcements that the opposition almost does not exist are just baseless and can’t bring to anything good; it is just a tool to work and campaign. Why does not it exist? There are both good and bad personalities in the government. Such factors don’t work well in Armenia and they won’t be effective even if image makers work on them long and too much. I think that people in Armenia tend to like parties such as “Prosperous Armenia”. When people try to imagine what “good” means they imagine the appearance of Gagik Tsarukyan. For instance, a coupe of days ago I was admired by the speech and ideas of Vazgen Manoukyan. He makes really good political predictions and good analysis. Notwithstanding, I understand that people may not understand such politicians in Armenia. People in Armenia don’t understand what brightness of brain means and won’t follow him”. The psychologist thinks that only the factor of justice is not enough to take people out of this situation. Even the social problems can’t empower people and make them go out to streets and struggle. The psychologist thinks that people are not deep interested in the inner political processes, “Only the fright of a danger coming from outside can empower our society. Thus, now only those powers can be success, which have foreign political slogans in their ideology, i.e. those powers that may for instance empower people by slogans concerning Karabakh. The authorities feel where their danger comes from. The political powers that argue that the authorities grab are not in fact so dangerous. Indeed, when the real power of the society, Zhirayr Sefilyan, tried to empower people they arrested him and stopped that process since they knew where their danger came form. People feel which politicians are honest in their speeches very well and they will follow them”.
