Azerbaijan is ready to provide funding for the construction of the Kars-Akhalkalak-Baku railway. This is what Azerbaijani Minister of Transportation Zia Mamedov said on Friday after his meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Noghaideli. According to “ITAR-TASS”, 422 million dollars will be spent on the railway construction. Mamedov announced that Azerbaijan would provide 200 million dollars for the construction. It’s assumed that Turkey will provide the rest of the 222 million. Minister of Economic Development of Georgia Georgi Arveladze announced, “negotiations are in effect” with Azerbaijan regarding the railway.
