Everyone in Armenia knows that the “Rule of Law” party and the “Alliance” party headed by Samvel Babayan are working closely together. There is a very high chance that the two parties will cooperate during the upcoming Armenian parliamentary elections (despite the fact that the “Alliance” administration has announced several times that they won’t participate in the elections in an alliance).
It’s obvious that analysts have observed the close ties between the two parties as a signal that Samvel Babayan has already chosen leader of the “Rule of Law” party Arthur Baghdasaryan as the presidential candidate for the 2008 presidential elections. However, according to our sources, many are in for a surprise because parliamentary elections are one thing and presidential elections are another. And of course, the preferred candidates are different too. If the cooperation (not alliance) between “Rule of Law” and “Alliance” corresponds to reality during the parliamentary elections, then Samvel Babayan will most probably nominate leader of the National Democratic Union Vazgen Manukyan for president during the Armenian presidential elections.
