By reading the announcements of the members of the “Union of Armenian Volunteers”, Zhirayr Sefilyan and Vardan Malkhasyan, made during their closed meeting, which became a reason for the arrest of both of them, one immediately remembers the terror of October 27, 1999 and Nairi Hunanyan’s words, “they must bleed…” and others. These speeches were sent to us by the Protection of Liberated Lands NGO. We decided to publish the segments of their speeches in order to make people understand that Sefilyan and Malkhasyan were not arrested because of the infringement of their constitutional right, free speech, etc but for their radical and revolutionary statements because no one knows what their initiatives would end up by. The statements are broad, that’s why we are publishing those in a summarized way.
In order to make his speech more impressive, Malkhasyan started his speech with the citation from a poem:
In these dark days,
Anybody, who stays silent and indifferent,
Is a traitor.
A traitor is the one, who doesn’t raise his sword to fight.
Right after that he went ahead to his speech. “In fact the Armenians, who see the current situation of the country, should draw one simple conclusion. That is the power in this country is given to the foes. Those are covert foes, who brought people to those unbearable conditions. This is the government, which negotiates the Turkish-Armenian relations to open borders. They give up the efforts and the shed blood of thousands of people to open borders fro their own businesses. Some people call them criminals, however they are not criminals as if they are only the garbage of the criminal world. We need to get rid of them as soon as possible. When the goal is pure, clean and patriotic then there must be no discrimination to means. We should start to fight weapons with our hands, organize a rebellion. We must get rid of these covert Turks, whose only last names are Armenian. Don’t be scared of enemies, the worst can happen they will kill you, don’t be scared of relatives, the worst they can do to you is betraying you. But it’s because of indifference that we have, which creates murder and betrayal. The betrayal served to Armenians by Kocharyan and Serj creates animosity. We have been speaking and negotiating a lot but as mentioned by Kristapor we must stop speaking and start acting. We must fight against the bandits, skinheads and criminal garbage. We should fight with their style with them – blood, fire and all possible means. The enemy is not in the front but inside the country. We must get rid of them by applying all the possible methods.”
