“Vimpel Com is planning to conduct commercial exploitation of the net in Georgia by February 2007,” according to Arminfo, this information was given by the director of the company, Alexander Izosimov. In July 2006 the company has purchased 51% of the shares of “Mobitel” Georgian phone company at 12,6 million USD as well as the selective 49% stocks of the same company. Hence Alcatel signed a new contract on building mobile service network with Mobitel. Last week Vimpel Com has started the tentative exploitation of the network in Georgia. In the framework of this contract a new GSM/GPRS/EDGE mobile network will be invested, which is ready to provide É 3G/UMTS and WiMAX services.
