Passive struggle

Yesterday the leaders of “civic disobedience” movement, RA former foreign affairs minister Alexander Arzumanyan and head of “Erkrapah Union of Karabakh” Arkadi Karapetyan organized a rally connected with the anniversary of the Armenian Constitutional referendum. “We are going to clean our country as we are cleaning our homes” were crying the organizers of the rally, who gathered near the Constitutional Court building. Some of the participants had sticks and posters in their hands. The number of the participants exceeded 150 and among them there were citizens that suffered from losing their properties, citizens from marzes and representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations. Later the participants walked to the National Assembly building by crying “Go away and stop treason”, “Shame on you”, “Take your hands away from our properties”, etc. At that time the parliament was voting for the “draft law on alienating property for state needs”. A. Karapetyan reminded the participants of the rally the fact that they had protected them from capturers during the war and were not going to give up on them and were going to protect them by all means again. An active lady cried that citizens don’t have a problem to find a good candidate to run for president and said concerning former president Levon Ter-Petrosyan: “We are in this situation not only because of the existing authorities, but as well as the previous ones; we can’t forget the dark times that we have lived. We don’t want Levon Ter-Petrosyan be back to politics”.

By the way, several days ago the participants of the “civic disobedience” movement gathered in Mergelyan institute to discuss issues. In fact, the rumors that the “civic disobedience” movement is a Russian private project (it is spoken that it is connected with Anatoly Chubais). It is why they were allowed to gather in that institute, which belongs to Russians. According to our information, the mentioned rally is “indirectly supported” as well as by the Russian Embassy in Armenia, which had its part in organizing the rally near the parliament. Definitely it is the reason why the other oppositional powers did not join them in their actions.
