Last week politician Aghasi Yenokyan worried over the fact that Robert Kocharyan can violate the Constitution of Armenia and run for president the third time and if there is a lack of a counterinfluence, he will put up his nomination and he won’t even care about the electoral fraud.
I don’t think that this will happen, but if Aghasi Yenokyan’s prediction is correct, I will not only worry about that, but rather I will be happy: Before telling the reader why I will be happy, I’ll explain why I exclude the possibility of him getting nominated.
No, the reason is not because Robert Kocharyan doesn’t have respect for the Constitution of Armenia and won’t take that step, but rather because he is an average Armenian citizen like us and wants to take a rest. There is nothing to be amazed about. Although he is rather young, likes to go surfing and skiing, but the desire to take a break is not only physical, but also has something to do with the role you play in history, the permanent ability to kill Desdemona with the same jealousy and energy.
One time I had the chance to write about how Robert Kocharyan made a promise back in 1998 that Karabagh was going to have 8,000 square kilometers of land and no land was going to be given up. If anyone can say that there has been one centimeter of Karabagh land that has been handed over, he must pinpoint and show it. The person who claims that some lands have been handed over to Azerbaijan during Kocharyan’s term, then he must provide evidence. There hasn’t been such thing and that’s why the president, who has already served two terms, is getting ready to go on a vacation. He knows very well that he must yield to the others and he doesn’t consider that his job because one man can’t do that alone. Now I’ll say why I will be happy if the current president of Armenia runs for president once again. First of all, there will be simplicity in Armenian life and I for one love to see everything simple. If Kocharyan is nominated, he will be forced to violate the Armenian Constitution. If he violates the Constitution, he will once again confess that the Constitution means nothing to him. The people won’t respond to this because the people didn’t participate in last year’s referendum. If the people were to vote, the constitution would be a value that couldn’t have been violated. Thus, we will see simplicity.
If Kocharyan is nominated, he will affirm and reaffirm the supposition that the upcoming elections are not for the change of power, but rather for the smooth transition. In other words, why do Serge Sarkisyan, Vartan Oskanyan and other political figures need to lie to the people; it’s time to think of doing something new.
If Kocharyan gets nominated, he will also affirm and reaffirm the supposition that in the next decade (if not the century), there will not be free, fair and transparent elections in Armenia because only God can be fair and the ballot box can be transparent, which is given to Armenia through the means of humanitarian aid from the West.
I almost forgot; the hints are also transparent. In this case, let’s say, the hint about monarchy (constitutional monarchy); okay, that was a little off line, maybe ruling.
If Kocharyan gets nominated, we Armenians will understand that the “Prosperous Armenia” party is the same as the Armenian Republican Party and the two don’t really differ much from the Armenian Communist Party, which had the power in its hands for seven centuries, so that the cradle of civilizations-Armenia-could have a national academy of sciences, so that Armenia could have universities and scientific research institutes, so that Yerevan could become a champion soccer team with the “Ararat” team and become a champion, so that the uncivilized villagers of the neighboring tribes could come and live in Armenia’s abandoned villages. As the “HyeLur” (Armenian News) anchor says )(I’m makin a literal reference) “There are legends about how intellectual Armenians are”. After this short announcement, they’ll show Serge Sarkisyan with chess players, but it turned out that they showed the three Armenian students who were present during Kocharyan’s official visit to a German university during his official visit to Germany.
