The British “Economist” periodical stated in the last edition that there are currently 40,000 Armenians living in Turkey. “Marina Martirosyan, who has already been working illegally as a custodian for five months, is no exception to her 40,000 compatriots. She is satisfied with her $300 dollar salary and is certain that Turk landlords are the greatest people on the face of the earth,” states the periodical and adds that Turk officials don’t molest Armenians, in contrast to the illegal immigrants of the country. According to “Economist”, there are nearly 80,000 Turkish-Armenians. Referring to the words of Armenian American art critic Kartash Onik, who has just returned from a festival in Kars, the “Economist” writes: “I was surrounded by Turks, who were dancing under Armenian melodies. It was fun. I was crying.”
