The community social services territorial centers are coordinating the family subsidy program of the Yerevan municipality.
Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan said during a press conference that 25,000 families have received subsidies during the nine months of 2006. There are 2960 families that have received some help. A total of 4,247,000 drams has been spent on this project. While working with the UN humanitarian project, there have been three charity projects and 52,203 families of Yerevan have received a helping hand. According to K. Areyan, 166,000 Armenians have received pensions from the pension fund-a total of 19.4 billion drams has been provided for pensions during the nine months of 2006.
As for the statistics for free medical aid, deputy mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan gave the following information regarding citizens’ visits to the doctor during the nine months: Visits to local therapists and family doctors-435,368 (this number has gone up by 24% compared to 2005). There have been 548,656 people who have visited specialists; the number of citizens who have been examined at the laboratory has grown by 42% compared to 2005. Whereas there were 15,315 people who were treated by doctors in 2005, this year that number went up to 17,262; 10,400 people have been treated with state orders, 7013 people have paid for treatment. The number of operations has also gone up-6241. There were 1,799,000,000 state ordered operations in the hospitals of Yerevan and that number has gone up by 17.1% compared to last year; medical aid-2 billion.
