On October 27, President Robert Kocharyan met with leaders of the diplomatic representations and members of the European Union accredited by Armenia. He welcomed the end of the consultations on the European New Neighborhood Policy program activities and hoped that the program would be approved by November.
“The large package deal proposed by the Armenian side proves that Armenia is ready to work seriously and expects cooperation,” said Robert Kocharyan.
With the request of the diplomats, Kocharyan has clarified some things concerning the Karabakh conflict developments, the Russian-Georgian conflict and the consequences it has had on Armenian economy and other regional issues. The president and the diplomats have also touched upon the upcoming parliamentary elections and they have emphasized the need to have free and fair elections. Robert Kocharyan has announced that Armenia will invite both long-term and short-term missionary observers to monitor the election process.
