On October 9, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh Mayis Mayilyan welcomed members of the OSCE evaluators of the ecological situation of the border zone of Karabakh and Azerbaijan. Mayilyan complained that after the monitoring of the fires breaking out in Karabakh and the report prepared by the personal representative of the OSCE president Anjey Kasprshik, Azerbaijan has moved the issue to the UN. He also complained that Karabakh didn’t get to participate in the recent discussions in Vienna. “You know that it was thanks to the efforts of Karabakh that the monitoring continued. However, currently Azerbaijan has occupied 15% of Karabakh’s territories, including the eastern part of the Martuni region, north-east of Martakert and the Shahumyan region in its entirety. I feel pity that the international experts haven’t visited the territories of the Shahumyan territories because Karabakh is really worried over the ecological situation there. According to our data, there is massive deforestation going on there and fires are breaking out,” said Mayilyan.
