An accident took place near 48 Mashtots street in Yerevan in the evening of September 22, at around 7-8:00 p.m. A large part of a third-floor building balcony fell and landed on the head of a young girl walking on the street. You could see bloodstains as you approached the site and the girl had been transferred to the hospital by an ambulance truck. Although there were rumors that the girl had died from the head injury, the investigative police denied those rumors, saying that the girl hadn’t even lost her conscience. Since the police refused to give information, we tried to find out from the residents of the building. Rosa Matevosyan assured that the collapse of the balcony was due to the capricious acts of certain individuals. “We have been complaining for the past two years. Last year, something fell on my head too. The building was built in 1941. “Maz” (director Armen Mazmanyan) came here, destructed the building so much that all the walls had cracks. He destructed the inner walls of the building, and it even made it down to the apartment of my neighbor living one floor down. We have filed many complaints, but no answer. Something like this had to happen sooner or later,” said Mrs. Rosa and provided us with the complaint/letters sent to the mayor of Yerevan, Prime Minister and President of Armenia. In fact, in 2005, the residents of the building filed complaints to the corresponding bodies informing them that the seismic level is high due to the construction and have asked to prevent any events from happening.
