According to “Associated Press”, there have been conflicts between Russians and Armenians in the Volsk city of the Saratov region of Russia during the past week. Representative of the regional police department Alexey Egorov said that one Russian died as a result of a conflict in one of the city clubs, while three have been injured. Egorov also said that this conflict has nothing to do with hatred between the two. However, according to “Ekho Moskvi”, the conflict continued the next day when Armenian students of one of the city’s construction colleges were attacked. One of the students was stabbed with a knife and transferred to the hospital. Egorov denied the information given by “Ekho Moskvi”, claiming that there had been conflicts before that too when there had been a “Caucasian cleansing” in the residential areas of the city of Volsk. The police are more in control now. With the order of the authorities, Caucasian traders didn’t go out to the city markets. “Interfax” says that last Thursday, there was a meeting in Moscow where the participants demanded “cleaning the universities and university hostels of Caucasians and citizens of CIS citizens.” On the same day, an interracial conflict took place at the city “Oktyabrskaya” metro station with 80 participants and some of them were shaved-heads.
