No new ambulance cars

“Generally we will have 37 vehicles: 13 Sobol model cars, 23 “Gazel” model cars and one “Eraz” model car that we have left for special cases to transport patients with mental illnesses. This number is enough for providing an adequate service because according to the current standards, one car is enough for 30.000 citizens. The exploitation of “Sobol” model ambulance cars shows that they are more compatible due to the fact that they are small and can move fast”, says the director of the company, A. Petrosyan. He also said that it was difficult to transport the ambulance cars to Armenia since the border was closed and they had to transport the cars through sea shipment.

The net price of “Sobol” model ambulance cars is $14.300, besides that, the company has to pay an additional $1.000 for transporting those vehicles to Armenia. Last year Arthur Baghdasaryan visited Austria and after his visit said that he was going to bring dozens of ambulance cars from Austria to Armenia. We asked the ambulance services about this and they told us that they hadn’t received any cars and had only found out about that only in the press. The head of the ambulance company says that ambulance cars made in Germany are expensive (70.000 Euro), besides that old cars are not compatible and may break down in ten years and get out of order.
