On December 21, a contract was signed between the “Max Group” INC and
the Argentinian “Tierras de Armenia” company. “Tierras de Armenia”,
which translated means “Armenia’s Lands” belongs to Argentinian
Armenian businessman Eduardo Ernekyan and has been registered by the
state days before the transaction was made. The initiative taken by the
Armenian businessmen has to do with the Ministry of Agriculture. The
new company has bought the 6000 hector land of the “Max Group” located
in the Baghramian area of the Armavir region. The new business is based
on the account of equal property investments. In the spring, planting
of new lands and parks will start. In general, 2500-2800 hectors of
land are foreseen to be build in addition to the 6000 hector. Until the
trees give the first crop, there will be recultivation of the land
corresponding to modern day standards, a high quality and wrapping
factory as well as a frozen economy. The initiative will not only solve
the problem of boredom, but also the model will serve as an example and
show that producing fruit in Armenia is still not profitable. The
businessmen do not plan on spending $20-25 million dollars for a 10
year project. The products will be exported in their entirety to the
U.S. and Russia. The business will be managed jointly, however each
side has taken responsibility of certain functions-the Argentinians
will be the management, and the technical part is the Armenian side’s
responsibility. Ernekyan is part of the new business being implemented
in Armenia. As they say, it has been going strong for a while. For many
years, the “Unidec Agro SA” company has belonged to our compatriot and
has remained stable in the international market thanks to the right
form of business management and modern technologies.
