Are there virtual Dashnaks?

In early September, a number of newspapers, including “168 Hours”, received an undersigned letter from [email protected] electronic address from a person by the name of Ashot Petrosyan, stating that the Armenian Revolutionary Federation disagreed with some of the political processes taking place in Armenia and that they were going to appeal to the president to solve them. The same day in the evening, newspapers received another letter from the ARF, which stated that the previous letter had not been sent by their party. The letter of the ARF states that the information in the above mentioned letter is not true. “This is a political sabotage initiated by some people that want to make others believe that they have sources of information within the ARF and can get information easily. In order to find out who those people are, the ARF will do its best so that nothing like this happens in the near future”, as stated in the letter of ARF.

As for the first letter, the following is written:

“The ARF doesn’t want to interfere in the processes taking place at the Armenian Republican party yet, but, anyhow, there are facts that serve as obstacles for forming the political system of Armenia and develop that system”. The mentioned letter also states that the recent announcement of Serge Sargsyan on behalf of the Republican party political board shows that the RA general prosecutor, Aghvan Hovsepyan is involved in politics, makes arrangements with politicians, meets them and uses his “Nig Aparan” union for political purposes. “Taking into account the above mentioned facts, we think that neither Aghvan Hovsepyan nor his union have a right to be involved in politics because the law prohibits such activities on the part of the general prosecutor”, as stated in the and adds that they want to appeal to president Kocharyan and recommend the president the following solution, according to which the general prosecutor should resign as prosecutor and be free to get involved in politics. “This would be a correct answer to those that assure that the prosecutor is really involved in politics”, as stated in the letter of the “hacker” and says that the Ministry of Justice should do away with the “Nig Aparan” patriotic union due to violations of provisions of their by-laws and register the union as a political party.
