German federal chancellor Angela Merkel is at the top of the list of the 100 most powerful women of the world, published by Forbes. During the past two years, first place belonged to U.S. state secretary, Condoleezza Rice, but now she places second. This is the first time that Angela Merkel finds her name on the list. Health Minister of China came in third, Melinda Gates was 12th, Sonya Gandhi-13th, TV personality Oprah Winfrey-14th, senator Hilary Clinton-18th, U.S. first lady Lora Bush-43rd and the Queen of England, Elizabeth II placed 46th. Last year Julia Timoshenko was in third place, but this year she is not included in the list at all.
