He has not asked a new appointment

Recently, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Mr. John Evans gave an interview to “Azatutyun” radio station, where he said what he has always said regarding his resignation: “We all work for the president”. He doesn’t have anyone to appoint and says that he hasn’t asked for an appointing because he is going to leave the diplomatic field for good. In response to the question as to whether it was his decision or not, the Ambassador said, “Yes, I have presented documents to resign myself”. As to whether he denied what he had said about the Armenian Genocide probably being the reason for his resignation, the Ambassador said, “I have never discussed that issue in Armenia. You can read all that I have said on the Embassy’s web site.” In regard to the new candidate nominated by President Bush, Richard Hoagland, the U.S. Ambassador said that he has worked with him and considers him to be a consummate professional.
