Former foreign affairs minister of Karabakh, advisor to the president of Karabakh on foreign policy issues, Arman Melikyan told us during his interview that it is impossible to organize a referendum in Karabakh in the nearest future. “The rumors about the referendum are just rumors and don’t have any legal ground. Azerbaijan says that organizing a referendum is not legal because all residents of their state may take part in the referendum, thus accordingly Armenians that live in Karabakh may do that too. All ways are closed already. How can they discuss anything else?” said Mr. Melikyan. Since the authorities say that the mentioned fact is their achievement Mr. Melikyan said, “There is only one achievement; the international community finally admitted that the independence of Karabakh should be recognized. They are ready to recognize the independence of Karabakh through organizing a referendum, this is a good achievement”.
