Everything looks different in England

Everyone likes to travel. All countries try to attract tourists with their traditions and things that others don’t have. Britain is the best when it comes to that. Even though England is a member of the EU, it is very original with all it has. Everything is different in England; starting from the currency and ending with the traffic.

I got used to being there after a couple of days; I even got used to the fact that a Ferrari speeding on the street unexpectedly stopped as I set my foot on the street and waited until I passed.. I feel very strange when I compare their drivers to Armenians driving the big, luxurious cars and don’t give a damn about the red light. As for cars, you won’t see big cars like the “Hummers” in London. People prefer to drive small cars. You can often see people wearing suits while driving motorcycles. You can even see old people driving bicycles.

People prefer to travel by metro in order to not get stuck in traffic and getting to work on time. As for their underground, it is a trial for tourists; it is very complicated. There are stations where over 3 lines cross. If you are there for the first time, you don’t have to be suspicious about your ability to find your direction if you get lost. Sometimes even locals can’t figure out where they are.

It is worth mentioning that the best way to ask for information is to approach police officers. It seems that they are there only for the purpose of helping foreigners with information. They answer to questions very politely and smiling, just like our policemen.

Here people are ready to do everything to earn money. You can meet people doing different things such as singing, dancing and other things to make money.

Their traffic is definitely the strangest thing for tourists. When going to your hotel from the airport it seems like your vehicle has crossed the street and may crash another vehicle coming from the other side. But this is not that dangerous. The most dangerous thing is when you are trying to cross a street when you are there first. Even though it is written everywhere “Look Right”, I look the other side and again escape an accident.

It may seem strange to Armenians that there are no taxis in London. The reason that there are no taxi services is not the fact that their governors don’t like them, but they don’t want to make the ground traffic heavier and thus transport people by buses, which are quite new, clean and arrive in time. By the way, these buses are a symbol of London and their models are sold in souvenir stores.

It is easier to work it out with the help of a map than ask anybody for help in London. Nine out of ten people are tourists. I can imagine what our officials would think if they could see so many people near our museums every day. On the one hand, it is clear that we can’t be compared to “The British Museum”. On the other hand, we have a lot to show too and should be able to present everything the best way possible. Recently, I heard that the information boards in our museums are only in Armenian. This is not the way to attract tourists.

You can often meet Arabic women dressed in clothes that close everything besides their eyes as you walk the streets of London. Just behind those Arabic women you can see other women walking almost naked. This difference of traditions can drive people mad.

These young men in the picture do two good things; they earn money and exercise. But sometimes it seems as though it’s a pity when such slim guys transport a couple of fat women. Their service is expensive, just like everything in London.
