On July 26, Prime Minister of Armenia Andranik Markaryan greeted the constant representative of the International Monetary Fund James Makew in Armenia. Makew is ending his term in Armenia this year.
“Currently, Armenia not only doesn’t accumulate debts, but also it economizes well at the end of the year, there is progress in the implementation of the projects of the Poverty Reduction Strategic Service (PRSS), poverty is decreasing, Armenian economy is growing at a stable rate and there is a tendency to increase employment rates,” said Makew during his meeting.
James Makew also presented IMF future plans with Armenia. The IMF missionaries will visit Armenia soon to observe the fulfillment of obligations of the Armenian government, provide technical and financial aid, solve issues concerning statistics, etc. He also said that based on preliminary information, structural reforms are almost complete, the economic growth rate is higher than expected, there are successes in other fields and the project will once again end successfully.
Mr. Makew introdued Mrs. Naink Omsi to Prime Minister Andranik Markaryan. Omsi will serve as the next IMF representative. She has a five-year work experience at IMF and is currently working at the IMF Politics Rating Department.
