Recently “Los Angeles Times” newspaper petitioned senators not to approve the candidacy of Richard Hoagland as the new US Ambassador to Armenia “until he feels brave enough to say the word “Genocide””. Last month the Congress postponed the date of the discussion because, as “Los Angeles Times” writes, “most of the senators asked the State Department to give them an official explanation as to why they decided to call Ambassador John Evans back”. “They should do everything they can not to appoint Hoagland until he says the word “Genocide””, writes the newspaper. “President Bush’s administration should be brave enough to stop its policy of ignoring such things and should explain clearly not only to Armenians, but everyone that believes that things should be called by their names and why the U.S. policy is influenced by Turkish nationalists,” writes the newspaper.
