According to “ITAR-TASS”, the G8 petitioned Armenia and Azerbaijan to have enough political will to reach a final agreement by the end of 2006. Based on the announcement made by the G8 president, during the G8 summit the Karabakh conflict and the current situation were discussed. “We have approved that the G8 group will help the OSCE Minsk group and have noted that there is a need to agree on the principles as soon as possible and reach an agreement in 2006”, as stated in the announcement, “We are petitioning Azerbaijan and Armenia to have enough political will to reach peace and prepare their societies for peace, but not for a new war”. G8 petitioned the government of Armenia to provide enough financial aid for Armenia’s nuclear power plant for functioning in a duly manner and provide necessary security of its exploitation. The atomic and physical security reports of G8 writes, “We appreciate the steps taken by the Armenian government to increase the security level of the nuclear power plant exploitation… G8 also petitions to found a special fund soon with the purpose of stopping the exploitation of the plant in the future”.
