According to “Azatutyun” radio station, the “Young Eight” summit has started in Pushkin city located in the suburbs of Saint Petersburg. Schoolchildren from the greatest countries of the world between the ages of 13 and 17 will take part in the summit. The American team consists of children of different nationalities from the schools of Glendale, including Armenian (Shant Ataryan). The summit was initiated by Russia and UNICEF and it’s aimed towards discussing and bringing up issues in which children of the world are interested most and what kind of issues the leaders of the “Great Eight” should discuss. The issues to be discussed will concern AIDS, education, national and religious issues, ecology, energetic issues, even the future of CIS. One of the children recommended fixing taxes to be paid by companies selling weapons to developing countries and spend that money on improving educational institutions and paying salaries to teachers.
