“The discussions of the US senate on appointing Richard Hoagland as Ambassador to Armenia were postponed due to the critical statements made by Armenians and mass media. The statements were made in regard to the decision to call back Ambassador John Evans” writes the “California Currier” newspaper. According to that source, last week the department of foreign affairs of the Senate discussed issues on appointing Ambassadors in three countries; Ireland, Switzerland and Armenia. The senate appointed the first two Ambassadors the next day, but the Senate postponed discussing the issue of appointing a new Ambassador to Armenia and it is not clear yet when the commission will take this issue into consideration again. According to the U.S. Armenian commission on Genocide issue, many Armenians and former presidential candidate Jim Kerry have sent a written letter to Hoagland asking him to clarify what he has been told by the US department of State concerning the Armenian Genocide issue. The newspaper writes that last week during the discussions of the Senate, Senators asked critical questions concerning the mentioned issue.
