Over 8 billion Euro spent on drugs

The Italian “La Repubblica” has published very interesting information concerning drug trafficking. The national research center of Pisa has conducted research to find out how much money Italian people spend on drugs annually. According to their calculations, Italian people spend over 8 billion Euro on drugs, 4 million out of which is spent on cocaine, 2,5 billion – heroine, 1,9 billion – marijuana.

Over 90.000 Italians use cocaine, and 75.000 use heroine each year. As for soft drugs, over 900.000 Italians use them. These numbers concern the drug addicts. The number of people that died because of drugs covers 8.000 in Europe alone, while that number is 20,000 worldwide.

On June 27-29, RA foreign affairs deputy minister Gegham Gharibjanyan will take part in a conference in Moscow dedicated to the methods of drug trafficking from Afghanistan.
