The tax/GDP proportion mark in Armenia is very low; furthermore, it is lower than that in Georgia and Azerbaijan. Recently, RA minister of economy Vardan Khachatryan said that the economy was growing rapidly and the taxation services were not able to develop in parallel to that growth. In this case, the situation is different: if we compare the growth mark with the increased tax collection rate, we will see that the taxation services collected double the taxes than the current economical growth.
According to STS, this is a result of organizational development of STS.
According to the national statistics services, in January-May the GDP covered 566,6 billion dram. The capacity of tax collection during the same time covers 14% of GDP of that period (79,6 billion dram). These numbers don’t include the money collected by the customs service. If we consider these collections as well, the tax/GDP proportion will increase.
In that period they registered growth in social payments as well. Starting from January 1 of this year, the number of social payments to be paid covers 7.000 (it was 5.000 before that).
