When the Sukiasyan family (SIL concern) and former Prime Minister of Armenia Armen Sargsyan applied to purchase the ArmenTel stock, citizens of Armenia assumed that they had minimum chances. Throughout the years, it has been proven that businesses of strategic importance are not sold to Armenians. The OTE company, which owns 90% of Armentel’s stocks has compiled a list of 4 companies eligible to buy its share in Armentel. Two of these companies are Russian: “Vimpelcom” (Bi-Line) and “Mobile Telesystems” (MTS). The next potential buyers are “ETISALAT – Emirates Telecommunications Corporation/Istithmar ETV-Emergent Telecom ventures” and “VTEL Holdings/Knightsbridge Associations”. Representative of OTE, Dimitris Tseleps didn’t go further in detail about these two companies and where the two have registered. W wonder why there isn’t any information concerning the latter on the Internet either. It’s interesting to know what they’re going to do this time. One thing is clear: they will try to get as much money as they can.
