“My grandfather is already 96 years old and I would really like to see the day when I could tell him that America has recognized the Armenian Genocide,” said member of the rock group “System of a Down” Serge Tangyan during one of his interviews. “System of Down” is really doing a lot by organizing a march aimed towards recognizing the Armenian Genocide. Besides the charity concerts dedicated to April 24, the members of “System of a Down” are meeting with U.S. congressmen and spreading the word about recognizing the Armenian Genocide. In April 2006, the group showed the documentary entitled “Screamers” that they had produced.
The Armenian rock group has composed some lyrics about the Armenian Genocide in the song “Holy Mountains” off the “Hypnotize” album. Experts say that the latest album is more aggressive and has more technology.
“Cheaters, Assassins, Devils, we want freedom,
We know what you don’t want to know.”
These are just some of the lyrics of the song “Holy Mountains”.
“Our propaganda is not just symbolic. If America doesn’t want to recognize the Armenian Genocide, how can Turkey recognize it?” said John Dolmayan of the group. The video clip for “Holy Mountains” is rather impressive.
