According to panarmenian.net, the Indian “Economic Times” newspaper has written that Indian “Vedanta Resources” company is interested in Armenian gold production and is going to enter the Armenian market. This is the biggest gold producing company in India. The reason that “Vedanta Resources” is interested in Armenia is the fact that the prices for gold have increased much. This company is going to invest in the Armenian “Sterlite Gold” company. They need 70-80 million USD in order to carry out the project. Currently, the “Vedanta Resources” is discussing issues concerning financing. According to specialists this information published in the Indian newspaper doesn’t have anything to do with the rumors among governmental officials saying that the “Sterlite Gold” company is not going to exploit the mines of Sodk. The environmental protection bodies of Armenia don’t like this idea and say that if they build this production, it will be bad for environmental protection. In other words, the executive power has shown that it is not interested in this deal and is not going to discuss it either.
