“The people living in Karabagh are the ones who must give a final
resolution concerning the Karabagh peace settlement. After all, it is
their issue. We must do everything we can so that Karabagh participates
in the peace settlement,” announced Pierre Lelush yesterday, who is the
member of the “Transitional Democracy Project” and representative of
the NATO parliamentary congress in France. During the fall session of
the European Security and Cooperation Congress, the Armenian delegation
has made a suggestion of including the Karabagh peace settlement
negotiations which has been rejected by the European Council. In
response to this, Pierre Lelush has said the following: “The ESCC is a
council, and at the present I am not stating the point of view of the
“Transitional Democracy”project, but rather my personal opinion”. The
delegation, according to Pierre Lelush, has especially been marveled by
the readiness and unity of the Karabagh army. He also added that the
Karabagh peace settlement is reflecting negatively upon not only the
developing countries involved in the negotiations, but also the whole
region-especially in the fields of transportation and
power-engineering. “I am a friend to Charles Aznavour and the
Ambassador to Armenia in France. The Armenian people have a large
number of genius minds that currently live in France. Today, 400,000
Armenians make up one part of France’s population. I am the one who
gave Armenia’s first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan the chance to become
the Ambassador to Armenia in France,” announced Pierre Lelush during a
press conference. He also affirmed that Brussels and Washington will
become more involved in the frozen conflicts from now on.
In regard to the membership of Turkey into the European Union, Lelush
said that in that case they can insist on Turkey opening its borders.
“Any member country of the European Union does not have the right to
close its borders. By opening the borders, Armenia can directly become
a neighboring country for the European Union. The most important thing
is that the internal economy of Armenia will rise by 1/3,” said Pierre
Lelush who will be the president of the NATO parliamentary congress in
November.
