Petitioning to criticize

07/05/2006

According to the U.S. Armenian chamber, the U.S. Congress group on Armenian issues has petitioned U.S. president George Bush to officially criticize the critical announcements made by Azerbaijan aimed at Armenia and Karabakh. “Azeri officials make threats of starting a war from time to time and lead an anti-Armenian policy. Azeri president Heidar Aliev, ignores the international critics addressed to him and threatens to restart the war. He says that he is in a “cold war” with Armenia, but at the same time says that these negotiations are just a tool for him to get compromises from Armenia”, states the letter of congressmen Joe Nolenbergh, Frank Palone, George Radanovich and Adam Schiff addressed to George Bush. The congressmen asked the U.S. president to pay attention to the facts, for example, the fact that Azerbaijan has multiplied its military budget, has built a gas pipeline not including Armenia with the help of Turkey and annihilated the Armenian historical monuments of Nakhidjevan.
