Some of the members of the Armenian writers’ union said that there was a mistake in our recent publication entitled “Ananyan sells the property of writers’ union”. The article was about an apartment on Israelyan street, which was used as a workshop for writers. Before this apartment used to belong to writer Hamo Sahyan, but after he passed away it was given to writer Vahan Tamaryan to live there. But Vahan Tamaryan passed away in 2005 and since not one of his relatives were registered at that address it was returned to the writers’ union. “168 Hours” was informed from the writers’ union that this apartment was sold on the basis of the union board decision, and later they gave 4,500,000 drams with the purpose of buying another apartment for Tamaryan’s wife in Shengavit community, and the rest (2.200.000 dram) was transferred to the charity account of the writers’ union. The members of the writers’ union also said that the rumors going around that the new owner of the Writers’ Union is Ruben Hovsepyan are false. Now the only thing we can do is congratulate Tamaryan’s wife for getting a new apartment and the buyer of the mentioned apartment because he was able to get an apartment in the center of Yerevan for only $15.000. According to our sources, the price per cubic meter of real estate in that territory is about $800-1000.
