In the article entitled “Live corpses left out in the middle of nowhere” in one of our previous editions, “168 hours” had touched upon the people who had been radiated by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident and their complaints about the authorities. According to them, after Vano Siradeghyan left office the Armenian authorities haven’t paid much attention to them. President of the “Chernobyl” association Gevorg Vartanyan said that if it continues at this rate, they will sue the government. MP and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan responded to this by promising a large amount of medicine for the victims of Chernobyl. No matter how surprising it may sound, the government has decided to actually lend a helping hand to the victims. According to our sources, the government has provided 2,151,000 AMD (4,780 dollars) from the safe to the Ministry of Labor and Social Issues of Armenia on March 23. The minister has been assigned to transfer the money to the “Chernobyl” association/NGO and sign a donation contract with the association.
