“If the international community recognizes the independence of Kosovo, the authorities of the Near Dnestr will organize a referendum”, announced the speaker of the Near Dnestr parliament, Evgeni Shevchuk yesterday. “We think that the citizens of Near Dnestr have no less rights for their state recognition than the citizens of Kosovo”, said Shevchuk. According to Shevchuk the solution of the Kosovo conflict can also be a good example for other unrecognized states like Karabakh, Abkhazia and Southern Osia. The speaker is also sure that sooner or later Moldova will join Romania. “This is the reason why I think that Near Dnestr has a right to take control and decide its own status”, said Shevchuk.
