“By joining my numerous colleagues I’d like to congratulate the people of Karabagh on the anniversary of the freedom movement”, announced the Congressman of New York of the US Michael McNalt yesterday while making a speech at the US House of Representatives. According to the Congressman, “On February 20, 1988 the people of Karabagh officially applied to the Soviet government to join Armenia in order to correct the totalitarian policy of Joseph Stalin. This peaceful act caused anger and jealousy among members of the Soviet and Azerbaijani governments. This caused hatred against Karabagh. The people of Karabagh bravely struggled for their independence. Nowadays Karabagh is developing its democracy with a normal government, armed forces and is leading smart politics. I congratulate the people of Karabagh, who are celebrating their freedom and democracy.”
