Who Do You Think You Are?

On October 7, the owner of the Isahakyan library Hasmik Karapetyan was
called to the mayor’s office. “I thought that maybe the mayor wished to
congratulate me on Librarians’ Day. That day ten of the librarians had
received certificates,” says Hasmik. The mayor had just asked the
following question:

“What have you talked about with the representatives of “UniBank”?

“They have suggested that we turn in the library building for the
construction of a fair instead of a new building for the library or
something like that. I simply rejected that offer,” said the owner of
the library and felt assured that the mayor would be grateful of her
thoughtfulness. Instead of that, the mayor only exclaimed.

“Who do you think you are?!- deciding whether or not you should accept
the offer. That will be decided at the city council.” When the library
owner asked the mayor if it is possible that the city council would
accept UniBank’s offer, the mayor only said, “That’s none of your
business. Don’t interrupt me when I am speaking or else I will fire
you.”
