Theft and murder

07/02/2006

According to our sources, yesterday at 7:30 p.m. two criminals attacked the collector of the “HayIncassatsia”, Alexan Davtyan (born in 1957), when he was leaving the Unibank Arabkir branch. Definitely Alexan Davtyan could not resist because the criminals shot him and killed him while robbing him. Then they stole Davtyan’s car (VAZ 21-06 model car, 222SL01). In twenty minutes the police officers of the local department arrived at the site and were ordered to work intensively. It is not clear yet how much money there was in the car and what the police have done to catch the thieves. The most interesting thing here is that according to our information the collector was alone in his car, when collectors are never to be alone due to security purposes. The RA police chief Hayk Harutyunyan has visited the scene of the crime himself. The public prosecutor’s office of the Arabkir community has instituted legal proceedings in regard to this case. According to our sources, they have robbed about 15 currency exchange points and the total stolen sum covers about 70-80000 dollars. Several days before this crime we wrote that the number of armed attacks has increased and the situation reminds us about the situation we used to have in the beginning of 90s. By the way, the police have registered a lot of cases of theft at the currency exchange points in 2005. But it is also interesting to note that these crimes are specific, because the thieves not only frighten people, but also kill them.
