He said that RA Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan had evaluated their work and the final grade was “fair”. By presenting their final statement Mr. Zakaryan said that the biggest achievement of 2005 was the fact that the corresponding federations of the committee were given the responsibility of financing the sports field. There are a total of 24 federations. The project will be called “governmental support for federations”. According to Mr. Zakarian this means that the committee will not choose who is going to be involved in the teams later, because the financial support from the state budget will be directly given to the federations. But there is a problem here: some federations are still in the development stage and have not been formed yet.
Mr. Zakarian says that the most important thing they have to do is to reconstruct the sport school buildings (especially those that are sponsored by municipalities). “Besides that, salaries are higher in the schools that are under our sponsorship than in the schools that are under the sponsorship of municipalities”, says Mr. Zakarian and adds that it is very important to solve this problem. According to their program of this year they are going also to build a sports school for the army. The sum that is spent on each sports school construction covers about two million dollars. They implemented these kinds of programs in 2005. According to him one of these programs was implemented by the aydkasdfdf“Hayastan” All-Armenian Fund HHHHlrkjasdfdsl;kfkkd”, and the other one – by the city construction ministry. Mr. Zakarian said that this year a modern shooting-range will be built in Nor-Nork community of Yerevan.
In 2005 a delegation representing the EU visited Armenia and studied this field and the relevant law provisions and governmental decisions that control this field. “They will send the report soon, but their preliminary evaluation mark was high”, says Mr. Zakarian. According to that delegation the biggest problem of the committee was that the committee supports those sports that Armenians are well in rather than the other ones. In regard to this the delegation made several suggestions which are yet to be discussed.
Mr. Zakarian also spoke about the news that had been published by “Regnum” agency, according to which the head of the Russian “Saturn” club had complained about the conditions for their sportsmen in Tsakhkadzor. According to them the ski-equipped landing gear was not in good conditions, their sportsmen had only cold water in their rooms and the temperature in the dining hall was four degrees. “We reacted to this announcement very soon, we fixed the situation at hand”, says the head of the committee. According to him the Russian skiing team organized their own competition in Tsakhkadzor last year. Then the Russian trainers suggested cooperating, and now there are 80 Russians who are being trained in Tsakhkadzor now. “We have 5 very good machines that we use to keep the ski-equipped landing gear in good conditions, but since there is not much snow now it is impossible to do that. As for the low temperature, there are two levels in that building. But the Russians increased the number of their sportsmen and the director also had to use the third level. Now the temperature is high in the dining hall and the sportsmen have their dinner in sportswear only”, says Mr. Zakarian. He offered to provide a vehicle for those journalists who were interested in getting acquainted with conditions in the sports complex of Tsakhkadzor.
