Armenak Mnjoyan doesn’t want amnesty

22/01/2006 Arman GALOYAN

Recently we received a letter from Armenak Mnjoyan, who had been forced into life imprisonment in connection with the case called “Dro”. In his letter sent to the president as of November 8, 2005 he doesn’t want amnesty, complaining that only criminals are a subject to amnesty and he is not a criminal.

But according to some analyzers Mnjoyan doesn’t want to go out of the prison because the prison is the safest place for him now. And it is not clear yet what his friends from the ARF will do with him when he gets out, because he has condemned them in a lot of crimes. Besides that according to some analyzers Armenak Mnjoyan is kept in the prison as a serious “bomb” against the 115 year-old political party, which can explode at any moment.

So what does he write in his letters? According to him he had some information from the governmental powers stating that: “In connection with the referendum of November 27 those people that had been forced into life imprisonment in connection with the case named “Dro” had to be left out… and that the president is going to pardon the other life prisoners too in order to escape future potential political condemnations…” But the letter of Mnjoyan is going to make the conditions of all of them worse. Armenak Mnjoyan thinks that this is a misinformation and writes: “The existing ARF head Hrant Margaryan, Vahan Hovhannisyan and the others, that have been jailed in connection with the cases called “Dro” and “Vahan Hovhannisyan + 30” cooperated with the former authorities and by threatening me tried to enforce me in their army of foolish people, promised to make my life better and told me that otherwise I would be imprisoned and then killed as a state betrayer”. He condemns Vahan Hovhannisyan and his father Edward Hovhannisyan in very serious crimes: “Vahan Hovhannisyan, his father Edward Hovhannisyan and other spies representing foreign powers organized the crime against the ARF leader Hrayr Marukhyan and killed him. Later they made all the representatives of the party that were loyal to our state leave the party, which was done for the purpose to take the ruling power of the party in the hands of foreign powers and their security services.

They also organized sabotages against army officers during the Karabakh war period, they shot famous army officers from their backs and killed them, they used the army officials to supply bad weapons in Karabakh to make money for them, as a result of which a lot of good army officers were killed and injured, we also lost territories”, writes Armenak Mnjoyan. After all this he writes that he has always done his best for our state and now he is still ready to fight and die for our country: “Or to be a subject of slow death, because I have never been blamed just for the purpose to get places in the government and I have never been afraid of being backstabbed by an anonymous person”.

In his letter Mnjoyan says that he doesn’t want to accept any help from any NGOs or other organizations: “These offers are made for the purpose to make my conditions better, and as well as to give freedom. I don’t want to be a subject of all kinds of amnesties, all amnesties that are a result of political developments and only change the situation. I think that those people are a subject to amnesties, who have made crimes, realized what they have done and want to be honest for the rest of their lives. If I agree with this amnesty I will agree that my ideology of our independent state is false, and I will also agree that our struggle for independence is a crime.

I assure you, that I don’t regret fighting for our state and for what I have done, and I will continue doing what I have done till now as soon as I have a chance, in spite of all that some people say about me. Mark my word, anyone who has tried and is trying to go against our state, will be punished like the previous were punished”, concludes his letter Armenak Mnjoyan.
