Recently, there are still rumors going around that Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan is going to resign due to health problems. During his conversation with our journalist, Mr. Margaryan assured that his health is in a favorable state and there is no reason to resign. In response to the question as to who is benefiting from spreading rumors like this, Mr. Margaryan answered, “This is one of the ways of changing power. If the Prime-Minister, who represents the coalition and has a great number of MPs in the Parliament resigns, there will be certain instability in the political field. People tend to talk about any rumor that goes around. My health is very normal and even more normal than many others. I will never resign because of my health but other than that there is no reason to demand my resignation. The government has completed all the necessary planned programs over the past 6 years and we have never hidden our mistakes. We were the first to announce them. The president and the executive branch work together. The coalition doesn’t complain either because the government consists of the coalition, not just the ARP. The conduct of such black PR is to create an unstable situation so that certain political parties solve their personal issues”. We also asked Mr. Margaryan whether he will be in power in 2007 or maybe President Kocharyan may fire him to decrease the overwhelming resources of the Armenian Republican Party. “Why would the President want to fire me or demand my resignation if there is no personal misdemeanor on my part like, for example, Hoveyan’s case? There is no political necessity and expediency for that. There should be either bad behavior to affect the country’s rating or health issues in order to be fired. As for the first one I won’t ever do it and as for the second I don’t complain of my health”.
