National Assembly MP and president of the “National Unity” political party Artashes Geghamyan:
“If Robert Kocharyan is Santa Claus this year, I want him to resign from office; if Serj Sargsyan is Santa Claus, let him be satisfied with being Santa Claus, giving presents to famous intellectuals and not anticipate anything. If Santa Claus is part of the coalition, he must know that just like the real Santa Claus is from Laplandia, the coalition member will be sent to Laplandia in a political sense. I wish patience and happiness to the people.”

Secretary of the National Assembly “Justice” grouping Victor Dallakyan: “I have believed in Santa Claus ever since I was a kid and have always waited with anticipation because he always comes at the unexpected time and brings joy to the world. Whoever is amazed or doesn’t believe in him, those people have some mental defect. Ever since I was a little boy, I have always asked for one thing from Santa Claus and have received it. Santa Claus has always brought me a Christmas tree; a natural one at that. Secondly, I would like for him to give me a brush so that I could give that brush to the authorities as a present. The authorities excelled in number drawing and painting this year, and exceeded Rembrandt.”

What does president of the “New Times” political party Aram Karapetyan want from Santa Claus?-
I want Santa Claus to come and take these authorities with him to that land called Laplandia, but not with a sleigh.”

National Assembly MP and leader of the National Assembly Republican grouping Galust Sahakyan:
“Since it is pre-election year, there are going to be many Santa Clauses. I suggest choosing a Santa Claus that will win by a social service contest.”

Member of the “Rule of Law” political party (another political party of the authorities) and leader of the “Rule of Law” National Assembly grouping Samvel Balasanyan: “I want Santa Claus to, first and foremost, bring joy to children; I hope we can get out of this social crisis in 2006.”

Representative of the ARF (a third party of the coalition) and National Assembly vice-speaker Vahan Hovhannisyan, and representative of the ARF Supreme Body Armen Rustamyan, announced that they don’t want anything from Santa Claus.

President of the National Democratic Party and National Assembly MP Shavarsh Kocharyan: “I am too old to believe in getting presents from Santa Claus.

“To tell you the truth, I have no hope that Santa Claus will fix everything,” said president of the National Democratic Union Vazgen Manukyan.

Independent MP of the National Assembly Manuk Gasparyan said that he wouldn’t like to see Santa Claus visiting his home. “I don’t need Santa Claus’s help. By the time he enters Armenia, reaches my house, these authorities will teach him to cheat and lie so much that when he pays a visit to my house, he will ruin Christmas for all of us. I don’t need his help,” joked M. Gasparyan.

Member of the council of the “Republic” political party Suren Surenyants doesn’t wait for anything from Santa Claus: “Even Santa Claus can’t help solve the problems of Armenia.”

“May Santa Claus bring joy and success to the Armenian people, may women become more beautiful and may the real Santa Claus come for Armenians this year,” said leader of the Armenian Liberal Progressive political party Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.

President of the “Republic” political party Aram Z. Sargsyan: “The people call out and God hears. What I mean, is that I want Santa Claus to fulfill the dreams of the people-what they say and what they want to see become reality.”

Leader of the Marxist political party David Hakobyan: “This New Year, the year of the dog, I want the authorities to stay loyal to the people, just like dogs stay loyal to their owners, and I would like the opposition to be stubborn like the English bulldog in whatever it does.”

Leader of the Popular Political Party and president of ALM holding Tigran Karapetyan: “I would like Santa Claus to bring prosperity to our nation. As for me, I don’t want anything.”

Leader of the “Strong Homeland” political party Vardan Vardapetyan: “In 2006, I want there to be happiness, health, tolerance and a little stability in the exchange rates-of course, that’s a joke.”

Leader of the National Assembly Federation and National Assembly MP Arshak Sadoyan asked the following from Santa Claus: “I would like him to be a little involved in politics and think about our authorities.”

First Secretary of the Armenian Communist Political Party Ruben Tovmasyan: “I want one thing from Santa Claus: make the authorities be clever. As soon as they start thinking, the people will feel that the authorities in charge of the nation are actually using their brains. But for the time being, the people feel that they are being governed by a group of imbeciles.”

“A new Constitution”-this is what leader of the Democratic political party Aram G. Sargsyan wanted from Santa Claus. Sargsyan also said that he consulted with his young son before giving this answer.

National Assembly MP and leader of the United Labor political party Grigor Ghonjeyan: “I want Santa Claus to come. I don’t care if he doesn’t bring anything; I just want him to come.”

The youngest MP, president of the youth wing of the Armenian Republican political party Armen Ashotyan said the following for his New Year wish: “I hope that, for the sake of our political figures, our Santa Claus doesn’t become the real Santa Claus. I want for Santa Claus to pay more attention to the needs of some of his “children”.
