By the drastic rise of the gas price Russia has given us another blow to the face. Instead of learning certain things of this policy and changing their foreign policy, our high-rank statesman do the opposite by getting even more degraded to Russia. By the way, there was recently a noteworthy article published in Russian newspapers. Only Armenia and Tajikistan out of the rest of the CIS countries do not demand Russia to pay for having Russian military bases on the territories of the mentioned countries. “We have a long-term agreement with Russians regarding military bases and right now there is no intention to change anything”, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Vardan Oskanyan recently. Perhaps it would be unreasonable to be insulted by the Russians’ announcement that Armenia is Russia’s fore post in South Caucasus. What do our political parties think about Russian and Armenian long-term partnership?
“By rising the gas price Russia doesn’t solve any economic issues”, said a member of the political council of the “Republic” party Souren Sourenyants yesterday, “Russia is ready to give a loan to Armenia in order to make Armenia make compromises, such as sovereignty issue and inventory”. According to the estimations of Souren Sourenyants the CIS countries under the sponsorship of the Russian Federation, have become a “club of illegal presidents”. “Anyone, who has an issue of legitimacy in his country, immediately becomes Russia’s “favorite”. Former president of Georgia Shevardnadze, during his last years in power, had also become pro-Russian and Russia’s “favorite”. The Russian Federation and CIS have become an appropriate back-up for illegitimate governments”, says the member of the political council of the “Republic” party Souren Sourenyants. In his strong belief Armenia doesn’t have a foreign policy. That’s the reason why Russia does whatever it wants with Armenia. “And whenever Armenia tries to do anything on its own, Kremlin immediately reminds the RA government that they are still in power”, says the member of the political council of the “Republic” party Souren Sourenyants. In his words the RF conducts a destabilizing policy, which however, jeopardizes the sovereignty and independence of our country. Therefore he thinks that “the main ideological-political course of the RA opposition should be based on recovering Armenian independence. In this regard the fight of the opposition should be not only to change the current government but also save the independence of Armenia. Both in Georgia and Ukraine the revolutions originated because of antipathy towards the “Russian empire”. Those revolutions to some extent were aimed for neutralizing the destabilizing influence of Russians in those countries”, says Mr. Sourenyants. He names those revolutions and the elections afterwards a specific referendum of independence. “Now it’s our turn to decide whether we want to be devoted to September 21 or we wish to become Russian “sovereignty”. As a matter of fact, Souren Arsenyan thinks that the RA government is absolutely wrong to connect the security of their country with the presence of military forces of a foreign country in the territory of their country.
“It’s senseless to think that any respectful country might ever agree to submit the financial warrants of taking care of a foreign country’s military force. It’s my personal opinion that it’s the right time for the Armenian political elite to develop a policy to ask the Russian side to take their military forces out of Armenia’s territory”, says Mr. Sourenyants and shows the security warrants of Armenia. That is – establish a kind and friendly relationship with the neighbors. By the way S. Sourenyants also added that he doesn’t have any anti-Russian policy. “The Russian policy that is conducted by Kremlin to Armenia is just unacceptable. I will always condemn the policy of any country, which will somehow restrict and limit the independence of Armenia. With this said, I condemn the Russian policy”, he says.
