Two years ago “Armenia Now” electronic journal organized “Hye Santa” philanthropic program, which goal was to provide social help for needy families. “Hye Santa” has found and helped 20 families in Armenia and in Karabakh. They gave them what those families needed most: educational payments, computers, cows, sheep, hens and even window glasses. “We can’t change the lives of all needy people. So it is better to help some of them than ignore everyone”, says the editor of the journal John Hughes. In this case their job was to find those families, write and inform people about them, and then help these families with the help of their readers.
Yesterday “Armenia Now” started the third stage of “Hye Santa” program: yesterday they showed “Hye Santa” (made by “Armenia Now” and “Shoghakat” TV) film in Moscow cinema, which told about the people that the program had targeted. “These are not happy stories, but tell about human soul and confidence. These are stories about people that suffer, and as well as about kindness. Being journalists our goal is to find these people and help as much as we can”, says John Hughes. He is sure that these stories will not only touch people, but also will make them make good things. At the end they shew a five minutes film called as “You must help if you want other people to help you”, which was about one of the winners of the program of last year: Lernouhi Isoyan. Lernouhi has lost his two legs and one hand in an explosion. She hasn’t lost his optimism yet. Far last year she needed in help, but this year she helps other people herself. Lernouhi weaves with her one hand and by selling her works tries to cover their needs and help other people. Yesterday the sweaters and scarves weaved by Lernouhi were shown in Moscow cinema building and the income got from the sales will be given to other people in need.
