Former Georgian president Edward Shevardnadze’s pension will be reduced to the regular pension of Georgians. Whereas now the former president receives a pension worth 750 lari (approximately 417 dollars), it is possible that in the near future his pension will become 28 lari (15.5 dollars). Director of  Georgian president Mikhail Sahakashvili’s cabinet Georgi Arveladze had made an announcement about the shortening of the former president’s pension down to the ordinary citizen’s just a couple of days ago. “According to the rules, this must be the pension for the president. The present day president thinks that he will be reelected and that the he can raise the issue of pensions later on when his second term is over. Apparently, Sahakashvili has faith that he will gain the majority of votes in the parliament and will be able to solve this issue in the parliament,” said Shevardnadze.
