The defense committee for Armenian economic competition held another meeting yesterday. During the meeting, the committee members discussed the results of the “plaster” market studies. According to the results, in 2004, 50,338 tons of plaster has been sold and that makes up 98.24% production. There are two leaders in the plaster market: “Plaster” and “Plaster Maker” joint-stock companies whose shareholdings in the market form 55.72% and 44.28% respectively. By the decision of the committee, both companies have been considered as the leaders in plastering and have been registered as the leading companies.
The committee has decided to fee the economic subjects that have been allowed carelessly to participate in the competition. For example, the “Black Belt” whisky, produced by the “Armavir Milk Factory” company, is not registered as a trademark under the name of the company. The company does not have the right to sell the whisky. In order to confuse consumers, the “Black Belt” stickers have been made similar to the famous Scottish “Johnnie Walker” trademark. This is considered careless competition. The company must now pay 100,000 drams to the state budget within 10 days.
