Armenia officially announced the rise in economy. As of October 2005, foreign investments have increased by 30%. The amounts have formed 226 million dollars. The leader in foreign investments is Greece (68 million dollars). Russia places second (47 million dollars) and Germany is in third place (29 million dollars).
However, there are some facts which don’t sound too pleasing. First of all, Georgia and Azerbaijan have more foreign investments than Armenia. U.S. investments have decreased compared to last year (17 million dollars). France has cut down nearly 40% of investments (14 million dollars). The worst is that, in general, direct foreign investments have reduced by 5%. Basically, we can conclude that despite the rise in foreign investments, our country doesn’t attract 5% of foreign businessmen. Not attracting 5% of businessmen in one year is pretty depressing.
